Setback.

I swear, sometimes this weekend I thought I was stuck in a TORG campaign again.

Most of Saturday was hijacked by crawling horror.

...in the shape of approximately six million maggots invading the garage. It seems that Steve thought I'd taken the Horrible Potato Mess to the curb, and I thought he'd done it...two weeks ago.

I innocently went out to put the kitchen garbage in the can and...yugh. Pooky admitted, after he saw it, that my hysterics were at least somewhat justified. So all other projects were on hold while we enacted emergency decontam procedures. On the bright side, the garage is squeaky-clean. It would have been super-organized, too, but while I was working on moving stuff back in some thunder started up in the distance, so the last 25% of stuff was just loaded in randomly. Still, it's in much better shape than it has been in some time.

Also mowed the grass, picked up branches from the windstorm the other week, washed all the trash receptacles (more yugh), and pooky drained the waterbed/installed new heater/refilled it (which entailed more setbacks of which I was mostly ignorant, but heard echoes of).

Sunday I wanted to do serious fall housecleaning, but was somewhat thwarted. Pooky's project was putting in the second line to the dish, which involved strewing stuff all over the living and dining rooms; and Beth spent much of the afternoon napping in the sunroom. I did get the kitchen mostly finished (the fridge still needs to be emptied and scrubbed out), and a bunch of general stuff-picking-up happened, but it's far less than I'd hoped.

Also not much sleep. Beth made hot fudge brownie sundaes shortly before bed, and I had sugar jitters until really late. I can't remember the last time that happened--I must be getting used to a much lower level of sweets. Or at least lower than these utterly excessive (but delicious) death bombs were. Wow.

Current project: making a 20-sided-die cake for our DM's birthday. I would really like to stop pursuing butterfly projects and buckle down to things which have needed doing for ages, but I can't seem to help myself.

Mmmmmm...grapes.
