Cell M interim report
Had our first session of Delta Green last night.
By "pretty well", I mean that we haven't gotten into any trouble yet, and there's been only minimal sanity loss.
Cell M (Agent Michael/Sam Fisher, Delta Force; Agent Madeline/Special Agent Trish Reynolds, FBI. Agent Manny/Dr. Max Kaufman of the CDC was on detached duty) was dispatched to investigate a series of killings in a town way out on Long Island. The victims' heads and spinal columns had been ripped out (seeing the bodies was the SAN loss, and damn, _I_ lost a point or two just hearing Steve describe them), and at least two of the bodies had been dropped from a very great height. There was also some goop found which turned out to be some kind of polymer beyond our current tech level. Whee.
Unfortunately, this kind of grisly ick had drawn media attention, and also Phenomen-X, a freakazoid "all alien abductions are real" kind of TV show, so we spent a fair amount of time dodging them too. The latter tracked us down to our motel, whereat the ever-subtle Agent Michael smashed a few toes. *cough*. Eventually we were joined by Agent Joel of Cell J (Agent John DeMarco, U.S. Customs Service) to round out our numbers since we are clearly dealing with a paranormal creature of exceptional strength (and it can probably fly, too). Our investigation got somewhat bogged in minutiae but we have narrowed down the human vector to a 17-year-old boy, who had unpleasant interactions with two of the three victims the day before each of their deaths. We are setting up surveillance of the suspect's house and, once we have more precise intelligence, will move in to neutralize the threat. [Current working plan is, wait til he's at school and his parents are at work, search the house, confiscate any paranormal foo, plant some drugs and then have the cops haul him to the lockup for a few years. We are all of the new-style Delta Green type and work behind the scenes, as opposed to the rest of Cell J who would want to just put a bullet in the kid's brain, dump him in the Sound, and burn down his house.]
