A new definition of "clueless"

A user who, having given us his second phone line to have his (line-sharing) aDSL installed on some months ago, calls to say it is not working. Well, say I, do you still have dialtone on that line?

He doesn't know. He didn't know the phone number, he didn't think he ever had phone service, he didn't know if he'd had it disconnected, he didn't know if it had ever shown up on his phone bill, et cetera, et cetera, and so forth.

My jaw just keeps dropping every time I think about this.

Actually, it turned out that this was the deal: He had that line and all, but never used it for calls, and then didn't pay the bill for several months so Verizon finally yanked the plug.

All together now: *DUH*.
