People seem to have a love it or hate it reaction towards Firefly, but then I ended up being kinda "eh" about it.

I just wish that one of our TV networks would pick it up -- or that it'd be released on R4 DVD so I can rent it instead. I keep hearing good things, but it's completely unavailable here unless you know someone who got bootleg tapes from the States.

(Didn't have any luck trying to get episodes from p2p nets, either.)

Mu. I've only watched the pilot so far (which, as I understand, was never shown on TV, which meant that one got thrown into the existing situation with no context).

Yes, it gets better. The episode after the pilot has *some* context, because the writers found out the first pilot wasn't going to be shown (not enough action straight in, apparently). But it's all pretty good. The writing, acting and characterisation are all well done, even though there's 9 main characters in the crew. I have the region 1 box set with commentaries and so on.

Sod Farscape, bring back Firefly :-)
