irritating new Opera behavior

Suddenly, now, when I tell it to go to my home page, the tab I'm on remains where it is and the browser spawns another tab that goes to my home page. I can't find any setting or keybind that governs this. It's driving me fucking batshit.

Uh... try the things in Preferences>Advanced>Browsing that have words like "new" or "reuse" near "page"? I haven't figured out what they do, but that might be one of them.
