filthy lucre, n.

Porn-soaked monies received here for the hosting of charity websites.

Never let it be said that this job does not have its moments.

I post inconsequentialities like this because there's nothing to do about the job/immigration stupidities or the house stupidities or the other major issues of my time except the El Jefe dance, which none of the august readership except [livejournal.com profile] jdev and [livejournal.com profile] dariodevil has any referent for. Well, it looks kinda like Mister Zombie up there, but.

THE INTERNET IS FOR PORN!

"He also has now admitted to distributing an obscene video and conspiring with employees to cheat the government out of some $140,000 in tax money from his adult video arcades. Wedelstedt is looking at prison time for the crimes."

Um...isn't there only one crime in that sentence? Evading one's taxes is against the law, to be sure, but isn't the distribution of obscene videos kind of what the pornography business is all about?

Well, it is Texas.

But also, I have to suspect that the legal (however opaque to me) difference between "indecent" and "obscene" is involved.

Robin Hood

So the guy makes lots of $ selling porn, then steals from the government by cheating on his taxes, and then donates to the poor charity (for additional tax deductions). And he thinks he's Robin Hood? Nice guy.

And I wonder how obscene a video would have to be, that he's going to jail for it...? OH! for distributing it, not for making it. to minors? Uck.

If one hops up and down in synchrony with the hand-flailing, the reaction (in the mechanics sense) can propel one around the room. I'm not going to say how I know this.
