uphill in the snow, both ways

Another sewing weekend, which was more productive & useful than the last one, in spite of several hours' rage and ripple-effect stress therefrom because our air conditioner, which the house inspector said when we bought the place looked pretty shiny and new, completely ate itself. There's the enormous cost aspect, and then there's the "oh it could take up to six days to get that last part in" aspect. Thank fuck it's not supposed to be too hot this week.

I finished the hood I cut out last time (it's reversible! --dark grey fine wool worsted on one side, olive green linen on the other), cut out two chemises & finished the neckline of one (but which I can't finish until Beth hooks me up with more of the same linen, because I didn't have enough for the side gores and, naturally, my enormous bag of linen bits has nothing in similar weight), and cut out fabric, lining, and interfacing for a pair of gamurra sleeves.

Still to do: finish chemises (and redo the neckline of the one I made two years ago?), finish sleeves, cut out & do another set, fingerloop lacing cords for them, put aglets on those plus the three I'd made already, fix my green gamurra, put lacing holes in both gamurre, and, if I'm really smoking the strong ganja, make another cotehardie. All of this in four weeks, amongst my other commitments. Riiiiiight. Oh and I'd like to embroider the sleeves and the hood. Because I don't have enough to do.

Also, must find shoes, and figure out what to do with my hair now that it's kinda short.

You get that strong ganja hooked up, you let me know, as I want to make at least two chemises as well as two "schmattas". And finish my gamurra.

::sigh::

It's Pennsic Panic time!

Your hair is kinda short? When? You could always use snoods. And hairpieces aren't as difficult as you might think.

Well, it's too short to replicate the two loopy braids on either side of the head, which is what I did last year. I have all the bits for "veil-pinned-to-linen-band", but I find the chin strap thing kind of annoying. Snoods I want to read up more on first. And yeah, I could get a hairpiece--that's what Greta does--but I'd like to see what I can do with my own stuff first.

Short hair!? It has been so long since I've seen you that I don't even remember what it was like last time. So sad. Any chance you will be going to Arisia?

It's not hugely short; I got it cut to a bit below shoulder length in December, and it's grown out a bit since then. Maybe a couple fingers above the bra strap?

Arisia: v. possibly. --Huh, and I see it's a different hotel, and in Cambridge. How innnnteresting.

Update: Apparently the main hotel is about two doors down from Steve's old dorm, and he is all the nostalgic and excited, so We Are Definitely Going unless some catastrophic event interferes.
