In which we learn that, in fact, there *is* such a thing as a free lunch

[livejournal.com profile] nancaurelia's friend Rob has been taking a catering course, and their final exam is the production of a small reception; and they were commanded to go round up some test subjects guests for it. So he invited her, and she invited me. Therefore my lunch consisted of toddling a few blocks to the Inn on 23rd, eating zillions of different hors d'oevures, and making notes of what worked and what didn't. Oh, don't throw me into that briar patch, Br'er Fox.

Everything was at least decent, most was excellent, some were stellar. Let me take this moment to particularly note the salmon puffs (I only wish my pate a choux were that light and airy), the crab cakes, the roast lamb with yogurt mint dip, and the little wheat shortbreads with cream and mango chutney.

Burp.

Yes, all quite yummy. Rod is a great cook both medievally and mundanely. Thanks for joining me!

It's not really free if it's all going straight to your thighs.

Thank you Mr. Helpful. DIAF.

If it makes you feel better, it's my overuse of that phrase that has contributed to 80% of people I know assuming I'm gay.

Also, DIAF?

DIAF = Die In A Fire. Farkism. (http://www.fark.com)

But, see, there you have Reason #6392 why you need to get out of that benighted place. In civilized areas, it is recognized that being health-conscious as regards one's weight is something that applies across the board, not just to women and what your locals no doubt think of as "man-women".
