On the Midwestern Work Ethic

I thought to myself, "I made it in yesterday." And I thought to myself, "Okay, admittedly, I was wobbly as hell and felt like I was going to fall down at a few points. And I could barely stay at the FCO outing, I was that tired. But I made it in. And I got stuff done." And I thought, "Sure, I feel a little wobblier this morning than I did when I got up yesterday, but I bet I could work the day through; I'm tough."

And I thought to myself, "I HAVE TWENTY SICK DAYS. This is what they are for. Stop being a Goddamn tool."

Especially while you're new there you might not want to be judged by the way one staggers through a workday when one is seriously under the weather. However, it sounds like you're on the mend now, so probably too late to go for the sick days this time around. Be good to yourself, lots of sleep and good food and vitamins and snuggles.

Stay home. Get better. Avoid infecting others. I'm also sure someone noticed you were wobbly yesterday.

You missed ladies'night. Why don't you quit your job, and get a job in the city so that you can drink with us? Wouldn't it be worth the 2 hour commute? We could ride the train together the way Stitchjock and I used to do. (Shed tear for me here.)

Someone did. The phrase "Should you be here?" was uttered.

I'm not surprised...our mutual friend here is the type to keep going when mere mortals have long since shut down!!!

I aten't infectious!! at least except maybe to someone if they practiced certain filthy sexual practices with me

Srsly, most norovirus infections are transmitted in more direct, personal fashion. Sneezing won't do it, but sharing a household potty could.

I can haz filthy sexualy practices?

Okay, so just stay home and get better! Do not want wobbly you!

Sorry that I missed you. I arrived around 6:45pm.

Yes, I agree. Stay home. Feel better. Avoid infecting others. Get better before the holidays!

I used to push myself to come to work when I was sick (when I was your age, blah blah blah). Eventually I realized that when you're home sick, you're off their radar screens. When you're at work feeling, looking and performing less than peak, people notice, they remember, and they may not realize that you're sick. Better to take a sick day when you need to IMHO.

I think the last sick day I took was from the day I came near to a diabetic coma last October. :) Don't let it get that far with you, I'm sayin'....

Good. You have more energy than any four people I know... You stay up later, do more at once, and end up doing a huge amount all at once. It is my humble opinion that you sometimes work yourself far, far too hard and the fallout is sometimes very bad. I'm glad you were able to talk yourself out of possibly pushing yourself beyond your bodies limits and winding up very sick because of it.

Excuse my spelling. My hands were moving without being connected to my brain.

Minor point-ette: twenty prorated. I am astonished that I seem to have burned through all but one of mine this year.

It's just a lot of wiggle room in my mind; I don't tend to be sick much at all.

...having said that, I will promptly come down with SARS.

Yeesh! Please don't!!!
