grrr stupid meatsack

My knee was getting markedly better, so I thought I would walk to the river today, and not push things by attempting to run. And I was happily traipsing along until the block between First and York, where there was the now-familiar *twinge* followed by the even-more-familiar stabbity pain somewhere behind my kneecap. Which does not come on every step, oh no, that would be too simple and perhaps avoidable; no. It hits randomly every third to tenth step, or longer, and doesn't seem to have any direct correspondence to exactly how I am stepping.

It's been indicated to me that I have control-freak issues. My reactions to the vagaries of my body suggest that perhaps this is accurate. But: is it too much to ask that the stupid thing work as advertised ?

Has your warranty expired? Mine did a while back, and they don't even make spare parts any more :(

Sales really isn't even in the same building as design, and the QC department was disbanded a long time ago.

Design? You mean someone _designed_ this PoS? Wasn't intelligently done, that's for sure.

I hear it was done on a Friday, and pretty late in the day, too.

Would new cushier sneakers help? If it had been feeling better, then all of a sudden not, it makes me think that maybe the shoes you were wearing today were not good ones for you at this time.

Actually, I changed into padded running sneakers instead of the decorative flats I had been wearing for that very reason.

But, this has been one of the hallmarks of this entire episode: nothing nothing nothing OW STAB OW OW OW, repeat ad nauseam.

This may be a st00pid question, but have you seen a physical therapist about the problem? I generally find them remarkably helpful for dealing with that sort of issue.

HA HA HA first appointment free is in three weeks

[identity profile] shechameleon.livejournal.com 2008-06-02 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, that's sucky. I had that experience once (had pulled my shoulder so badly that I could barely dress myself, couldn't get an appointment for a month). Have you considered a private-pay session to get you going until you can see the Officially Sanctioned person?

I will refrain from turning this into one of my patented rants about how evil managed care is...........

Care and feeding

I'm going to counter your complaint with an imagined conversation with your body. "Hmm, body, am I taking decent care of myself in the overall scheme of things? Don't I always do everything you ask and give you good fuel and use you gently, get plenty of rest and healthful exercise and take good care of you?" "Stabby stabbby, no you never listen...!"

It's a system baby. The mind takes care of the body, the body takes care of the mind. And if not, not. Go easier on yourself all around maybe? Try seeing a doctor to get some exercises for your knee ligaments?

Am waiting for doctor appointment. Bloody HMO. Hopefully Dr. Nick will be at D&D this week so I can get a quick opinion 'til then.

I *think* I'm treating myself otherwise okay. Not nailing myself onto crosses and stuff.

Your body is apparently thinking different. Time to take it a notch down and listen. It gets veto rights.

With an absolutely irrefutable no-returns policy, why on Earth would they do that?
