My cellphone is now like unto a brick. Sometime around 7:15 I'd guess: it endlessly tries to reboot itself without actually rebooting, even after taking the battery out &c.

I hope to resolve this sometime tomorrow.

MOAR! Now something in my machine is making a wretched noise. I think it's a fan. Fucking wonderful.

Maybe the Universe is telling you to get an iphone? :)

If the problem in your box is a fan, it should be pretty easy to fix. Let us know if you want help. M. might even have one lying around or something...

Is it cool enough in your new digs? Maybe the poor thing is getting worked to hard.

It IS pretty warm, which is part of why I put it into standby mode when I'm gone for the day & at night. I'm guessing maybe something got jarred when I moved it.

YOU PEOPLE AND YOUR IPHONES RRRRR (real answer, I'm not even gonna think about getting one until I am an all-Mac environment. I am not dealing with cross-platform hoohah right now.)

No keyboard. Less space than a nomad. Lame.

Fortunately, of parts to replace, fans are generally pretty tolerable (and inexpensive). Likewise, there are worse ways for a fan to go than by making a lot of hideous noise first.

The phone, though, that sucks. (It would be unbecoming for me to gloat that, were such a fate to befall my phone, I could throw it out and buy a new one for $20; so I won't.)
