Oooh, me, me! I know it's hard to go for both days but it makes it much more relaxing (you have plenty of time to see lots of cute critters *and* buy yarn and stuff). So my vote is for both days but if people are only going for one I'll do it that way. In the past I have rented a car but if there is room in someone else's that's a lot cheaper.
Oh and apropos of staying over, we have friends with a house in Woodstock/Saugerties. They were out of town last year and so I stayed there. I could see if there is a possibility for that again this year and how many they have room for. Also the Holiday Inn in Kingston (just across the river from Reinbeck is pretty reasonable and conveniently located, but book now, they will be full (if not already).
Shall we stay over Saturday night with Briony530 so we can eat brunch and buy pumpkins? Pumpkin carving that week. Note that the picture of my house on Google Earth has pumpkins on the steps and leaves in the yard :) Always hoping to have pizza with hjilnspalda and alistrina afters, too.
That sounds like a nice idea. I'm assuming that either you or syringavulgaris are driving. Is there room for a passenger? Also, what time in the morning do you think you'll be leaving? I believe the gates open at 10AM.
