Checked out of the Swampy Ghetto, checked into room generously paid for by credit card rewards...
Front Desk: I see they've put you in a different room[1], do you want to keep your old one?
Your humble correspondent: I'd rather not--it had a sort of mildewy smell to it
FD: Oh... Would you like one of the renovated rooms in the tower?
YHC: Why, that would be lovely.
So here I am in the 17th floor, the "Club Floor" I thank you, in the newly renovated tower. I have a beautiful view north past the convention center (which is a handsome building, at that) towards the city proper. I have real furniture and a king-size bed with, I counted, ten pillows. And I couldn't swear to it but I think the intarwubs are faster.

[1] the "Aquamarine Area", where my con hotel reservation was, was not one of the reward choices. I had booked the "Ivory Area", which is the same concept but on the other side of the complex and closer to center. It is also the "kid friendly" area, oh dear.

So any thoughts on what do do with your vacation? It's too bad about the weather being too cold for the water parks. Are you interested in the regular Disney parks?

(It was warm and sunny this morning, but then clouded over and the wind kicked up--so much that towels were blowing across the patio. You can be in the pool, and I was, but climbing out to lounge next to it is OMG FREEZING; also it is hard to knit when your yarn is blowing every which way.)

I can say that Pleasure Island was kind of fun, in particular The Adventurer's Club. Which the Bastards closed recently!!!!! It was a 1930s style British explorer's club. Oh, never mind. Wikipedia is telling me that Pleasure Island is going through a total renovation right now because people wanted more "family friendly" entertainment. Arrrrgh! The whole point of Pleasure Island was that it was for Adults!! Here's hoping they will create another Adventurer's Club.
Epcot is fun, some of the restaurants are decent. In the "England" section they have street performers doing shortened versions of Shakespeare. Oh and a nice pub with brass rails and a beautiful bar. I would hope they would have decent beer there!

Yes, in fact the first time I ever had tea and liked it was at the Rose and Crown, when I was ~10 years old. :)

I remember the Mexican Pavilion too. It was so cool how you would be indoors but it would feel like you were in the square of a small Mexican village at night with the stars shining above.
I don't mind that they change things, of course you need to keep it new. But why does it always have to be so bound up with advertising!
