Backwards day.
I woke up this morning definitely on the wrong side of the futon--somewhat cranky, somewhat headachy, not wanting to do anything. But I had promises to keep etc., so proceeded with the day's plans.
The (brief) shopping trip was, alas, unfruitful. We did find the shoes Beth had been looking for--but not in her size, of course. I tell a lie: it was not wholly unfruitful, as we acquired an Item of Great Honor to present to Kaminari this Pennsic. But it was unfruitful as far as the actual _purpose_ was concerned. Can't win 'em all, and we did at least have an amusing lunch (okay, yes, from a corporate standpoint Johnny Rockets needs to die, but where else do you get a good chocolate Coke these days?).
Then we went to the medieval film thingo they were having at the renovated Loew's Theater in Jersey City (it was being co-sponsored by the SCA, so we got to touch base with various people too). I'd heard about the renovation project some time ago, but had no idea just how amazing a job they were doing. The project is not half done yet--the balcony, for instance, is still unsafe and can't be used--but the lobby is complete at least to my untutored eye, and boy howdy does it ever look fabulous. You just want to put on your long slinky evening gown and go watch some really witty classic movie, probably with cocktails before and after. Oh yes, the movie--it was the 1952 version of Ivanhoe. So that's Liz Taylor. I see why husbands kept lining up for her.

sweh and naudia could see the source material); and now am realizing that the new sound card Steve put in my machine has made the annoying crackling speaker noise go away. My world is, for the moment, quite nicely in order. It's the little things, sometimes.
