state of the diet

The good news is: the very delicious veg curry I've been making is quite acceptable for phase 1 of this diet. Mmm, chickpeas & cauliflower.

The bad news is: I have just used up the last of the required spice blend, which was hand-carried from Australia for me. Woe.

(It can be ordered online, but only in giant amounts. We may do it anyways. Lord only knows when it'll get here, though.)

I am less crazed than I was at the start, so I guess this insulin resistance whatever is starting to break up. I would still cheerfully stab someone for a glass of juice, or a cocktail. The latter especially, today. But I am surviving.

It is to be noted I've not had over 1500 calories a single day this week. Half of them are from fat (mostly monounsaturated; I think that's good, isn't it?). I am not sure whether to be concerned about this or not. Fact is, I'm eating a lot of veg, but when a cup of the veg works out to 40 calories--.

I oughta go eat something else; I'm only at 1150 for today and I'm hungry. Turkey sausage maybe. Though three links of that won't really put me up much higher.

You're right. You *REALLY* need to have something else. Eating less than 2,000 cal can cause shock to the system if you're even moderately active. Please incorporate more protein...Please.

What is this spice blend you speak of? If it's available around here we'd be happy to pick some up in a more reasonable quantity and airmail it.

It's the South Indian Vegetable Blend from Mudgeeraba Spices (http://www.mudgeerabaspices.com.au). Who are somewhere around Brisbane, or else I would have already been attempting bribery & corruption on youins to send me some. :) (My kind courier had gotten it at some big huge show that the vendor was at, I forget what it is; it sounded something like a state fair, or maybe more like the Canadian National Exhibition; but it was in or near Sydney.)

If you should ever see it, though, I can't recommend it highly enough. It's pleased everyone I've fed it to, from raging carnivores to Mr. Fussy Vegetarian Who Doesn't Like Vegetables.

Aha. Yes Outer Woop Woop, Queensland is a skritch too far from here :).

Your friend might've gotten some at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, which is in fact the equivalent of a state fair. There have been an explosion of foodie exhibition weekends in most major capital cities, though, so I thought they might've expanded. No such luck.
