all hail the mighty playbook

I'm sure there are support groups outsourced to India who are alert, clever, organized and capable of independent thought.

None of them work for Earthlink.

My need is simple: to find an authorized representative (that's an official term) who can sign off on a Covad ISP Switch Release Form. So far, I have been transferred six different times and given increasingly moronic suggestions, including every single droid recommending that it would be best to call...the same number I called to start this adventure.

This is why mandated standardized testing sucks: by training students to do well on standardized tests, all we teach them to do is be relatively competent droids, who can read the playbook and tell you to call the Customer Support Line...

(University of Wisconsin, Madison (http://www.wcer.wisc.edu/), has a podcast out on computer games that teach kids (http://www.epistemicgames.org/eg/) to, you know, think, but they're all still experimental.)
