Some dietary adjustments

Meta-issue: it's clear that, as long as I'm taking 600mg ibuprofen each morning per doctor's orders, I had best make sure to NOT take it when my stomach contains nothing but coffee. Yerk.

I've replaced my elevenses cheese-and-nuts with carrots-and-hummus, and I have canned salmon to put in my salad, and once I finish my current bottle of salad dressing I have a lower-fat one to use instead (assuming it doesn't taste like ass, but so far, my experience has been that low-fat is usually tolerable and it's fat-free that you need to avoid like poison).

I would like more time to have a better breakfast, that is something more than "a slice of sprouted wheat toast with a wedge of spready cheese", but since next week begins MIGHTY FUCKING EARLY hours I don't know how likely this is to occur.

Was horrible this weekend. Cheese and booze and I know not what else. I have no place looking down my nose at others' lack of self-control, indeed I do not.

I found that a smoothie (banana, slim fast powder mix, and skim milk, blended in the blender/magic bullet) is a very tasty and satisfying breakfast.

I have indeed done that very thing (only with protein powder instead of slimfast), but it doesn't win a lot of prep/clean up time over making eggs or the like, because I feel I HAVE to clean the blender afterwards. (It also takes me a surprising amount of time to "eat".)

You don't have an immersion blender? I find that I can just rinse mine off after smoothie-making and it's just fine. Blend in a to-go cup and bring with you on the train. I don't use protein powder or slimfast, just yogurt and whatever fruit I have handy (and ice cubes if the fruit is not frozen).

Start with Ibuprofen and CocaCola every morning for breakfast for 3 or 4 months, add a birthday party with guests bringing random bottles of liquor, stir gently all night.

That is a recipe for waking up and vomiting blood. Substitutions are acceptable.

I'm finally off my "600 mg" 3 X a day habit..but I must confess that ibuprofen never really bothered my stomach.
I find those protein smoothies do bother my stomach. I'd stick with the toast, or do something like a Kashi bar if no other reason than that fiber is a good thing.

I just use good balsamic vinegar as dressing. Zero cals (ish) and if it's mellow enough you don't need oil.

Couple o' things: the Olde Cape Cod lite poppyseed dressing tastes just like Bob Evans' dressing. I also have a really yummy light buttermilk dressing that's something like 60 cal for a serving, and it's so thick and rich that I only ever use half a serving. I think it's Annies Naturals or some such - got it at Whole Foods.

w/r/t self control - it's important to chuck it to the wind on occasion. You know that.

And about breakfast: what about packing something the night before that you can either eat on the train or when you get to the office?

Breakfast: I take it you don't like cold or hot cereal. As for blender, do you have a dishwasher? I just put the blender container in whole after use.

Self control: I have none. I used to, but now it is mostly gone. Don't feel bad.
