[livejournal.com profile] tactisle has come up with one that everyone can play: at 5pm EDT, or as close to as possible, post one line of poetry. More info here.

Most excellent class today. Luke was teaching (don't know if Butch, the usual Wed. sensei, is on vacation or what) and we did several more advanced things like yankyo, which I'd never done before, but I picked it up reasonably well. Was working with David, who as usual was quite helpful--almost too much so, in the Steve-sense of reiterating the explanation when I'd already got the picture. (Better than the reverse, certainly.) Crowning bit was, the last thing we did involved sticks! That is to say, the jo, which is a 4' staff (which could be simulating either a staff or a spear in a given maneuver). The technique was very simple and evolves right out of the backstretch we start most classes with, only you're also taking the jo away from the attacker and threatening him with it. This move felt really natural to me, and between that and the fact that I was using a Real Weapon (sort of), I have been feeling quite the studmuffin all afternoon. Pride goeth etc., so I'm sure Friday will be a fiasco, but for now I am a happy bunny.
