Dec. 16th, 2003 01:49 pmRidden hard and put away wet, that's me.
A really enjoyable but most exhausting class today. We were mostly working in small groups--and in Michael's class, that means small, i.e. three people rather than five or six. So, usually with small group work, you get a breather, but not in this case; and we do small-group work primarily for stuff which involves a lot of moving around, techniques where if you tried to do it as partners we'd be banging into each other constantly.
So, active techniques, little breathing time...and I was in a group with Eric and Enrique, both of whom are really energetic. This is not a bad thing. In fact, I maneuvered semi-deliberately so I might get in their group, because a) they know what they're doing, b) they're good to work with, and c) they're fun. But it made for an exhausted pooky at the end of it, the moreso as one of them caught me with a koshinagi throw, whereat I panicked, did all the wrong things, and landed on my head. Ow. On the bright side, they started then coaching me on koshinagi (though unfortunately we had hardly any time left at that point).
Much of today's class was freestyle, which is joyous to begin with, but even more was that we did a period where it wasn't just "any technique from attack X", but "any technique from whatever attack uke throws at you". Now that is some useful and goodly practice. Of course I was pretty tired by then, and a bit rattled, so I was not All That; but I calmed down a bit and did some good work before it was over.
