Yesterday I had all the energy I didn't have on Saturday, and went on rampage: put up a shelf in the bedroom, reorganized my vanity & jewelry box, knocked the sewing room into some kind of order, cleaned kitchen, made curry, cleaned kitchen again, unpacked all of Steve's stuff once he got home, and interwoven with all of the above, did metric assloads of laundry.

Today I am once again lifeless, though this is due to lack of sleep--Steve was thrashing about like a landed fish last night, which becomes everyone's problem when you're on a waterbed. (Reason: "the new down comforter crinkles too much; it makes too much noise." *gronk!*)

Also today: back on the diet. I only slipped back about five pounds, which is not bad, especially considering I went a wee bit hog-wild this past week. I'm vaguely annoyed by the fact that I don't really enjoy Coke anymore; it's too sweet, diet sodas have icky aftertaste, what does that leave? Also, my lifetime peanut butter of choice (Peter Pan crunchy) now tastes a bit too sugary. Natural peanut butter is well and good, but it's not really quite the same food. Bah.

Was not wholly pleased with the curry experiment. It wasn't bad, but it was not very flavorful. I used a premade curry powder, one that I have used as flavoring in other things (like shepherd's pie) with success, but it doesn't seem to work on its own. On the other hand, the lassi worked out pretty well--a little on the sweet side, but that's easily adjusted.

This is not consciously self-denigrating, nor a cry for sympathy. Nor am I saying that I Suck, because after a year at least I don't that any more. I'm growing towards acceptance of the fact that I do not absorb these skills as quickly as other people, nor as quickly as I do other skills. (It may be late in the day to have this lesson; a consequence of the fact that I've always drifted away from things that didn't come easily to me, even if I found them interesting.)

Enlightenment came from working with several newbies over the last week; one in particular. He's had maybe a dozen classes, and the two when I was working with him we were doing complicated henka waza techniques (that is, you switch what you're doing in the middle), stuff I've only done a couple times. And he was getting the hang of it right off the bat. I'm not saying he's ready to go pound gang members' heads in or anything, but the information was clearly sticking fast and hard. Comparing to myself at that point--. (To salve my ego a bit, another newbie I worked with who'd been around a few months is probably a bit behind me at a comparative time period. But his ukemi's consistently better. My arm still collapses sometimes when rolling. Le sigh.)

In other news, we found the first sucky episode of MI-5. Naturally, it would be the one about someone hax0ring their systems. It was to vomit...copiously. Bad technobabble even by TV standards, on top of a gratuitously over-emotionally-wrought plot. Still, one bad egg out of, let's see, ten episodes so far is pretty darn good (and upon checking, I find that the person who wrote this one didn't do any others, at least not this season).
