More chaos! More more more!
Jan. 12th, 2004 11:11 amWhat a bloody Monday this is. It started with a 5:30am page (which meant I was on the pager schedule for Sunday, which I shouldn't have been, as I said I was still going to be travelling that day!) because the log server was low on space. Stagger upstairs, put contacts in, went to computer...where I found that once again our IP address has switched to something vastly other, so I couldn't log into the relevant machines. Futzed around trying various things, finally woke Brian up, he said it'd probably hold til I got in the office. Too late to go back to sleep. Puttered until getting-up time.
Late train, again. I don't know what damage NJ Transit has with the 7:39, but it's voted Most Likely To Be Fucked Up of all the morning trains.
Into office to find that byzantium isn't allowing logins. Try another workstation in case it's just mine; same thing. Nothing on console. Nothing indicative in logs. Machine is otherwise happy--you just can't log in. I try logging into biohazard (our XP test machine) just to get mail &c. It doesn't have an s/key client. This I can rectify, but ARGH...
Of course, just after I finished typing the above, our diligent Ed managed to whip the bugger into shape, so I can go back to my own machine with a non-shitty keyboard and a non-shitty SSH client and so forth. Yay.
