Today was clearly an auspicious day for my plans: I took a personal day in order to fight a new title, registration, etc. out of the DMV, which I expected to take a few hours. The first sign that I chose wisely was when Steve came back in the house after waiting 45 fruitless minutes for a train--it seems that NJ Transit has muffed things again. (Last night was still cursed, but I don't blame them for the fact that some dippy bimbo tried to run the crossing gates, letting her car get hit by a train which fucked things up for hours.)

I rolled in to the DMV at about 11:50 and was out again by 12:15. How cool is that? Alas, the insurance packet still hasn't come in the mail, so I can't get the car inspected (for title/registration foo, you just need the insurance company name and policy number; for the inspection, you need the actual card, which is dumb, but that's the rule). But that can be done on Saturdays.

Emboldened by this good fortune, I'd hoped to drag the pooky out to look at dining room chairs, but he's going to be stuck on a conference call all afternoon. Bah. So it's laundry, and tidying, and pondering house re-arrangements, and perhaps dropping some things off at the dry cleaner.
