I am weak.
Well, I did need a backup pair of black dress pants. Especially since my current ones are dry-clean only, and it takes me forever to get around to dropping them off when they need it. I don't like this pair quite so much, but due to their cut I'll be able to wear them longer as my shrinking continues. And, hey, fourteen bucks. Which was also the price of the other item acquired, to wit a stretchy colorful summer top.
There will be much joy in Mudville when this stupid fucking love affair with hip-huggers crawls back into whatever hole it came from. News flash, people: plumber's crack isn't attractive on anyone, regardless of gender, size, or shape. I don't care if they sell them, but I'd like to be able to find a single pair of casual pants that's of regular cut. What's really irritating is that I've been waiting for cargo pants to come back in for ages, and they have, and every last one of 'em is low-rise. Feh.
I saw one thing I may yet go back and get...a lime green linen sundress embroidered with pink flamingos. Steve would hate it; I think Beth would approve of it. It fit me perfectly, and I have so few summer dresses, and it's wonderfully silly, and, I mean, pink flamingos. Anyone not native to northern Ohio will not understand why, being from Parma, it should be mine. It's not expensive, but more $$ than I'd easily fling on whimsy. Wibble wibble wibble.
