Was partnered with Luke today, and I kept up, at the cost of frying off a few dozen brain cells. Yay, first heat exhaustion of the year. Can we have winter back, please? (He, of course, was not even breathing hard. Damn all good-looking perfectly-in-shape strongest-ki-EVAR guys.) At least I didn't get dehydrated. And, for the most part, my wind was okay; it was, I think, almost entirely a coolant problem. Maybe I should stick some CPU fans to my head.

On the plus side, I overheard him commenting to Claire after class how I'd improved over time. Go Me. As well, though it hasn't gotten any easier to throw him, and I still occasionally get frustrated, I feel less stupid/awkward and more focused on just getting my errors sorted. So my brane-state is also improving, and fuckin' yay for THAT.

Things to work on in the next while:

* getting comfortable with rolling when I have to land shoulder-first
* taking ukemi for koshinage (OH GOD HELP ME)
* improving my grip! A six-week-old tabby kitten could break out of it, which is decidedly unhelpful when the technique assumes the assailant has a good grab on you.
* being more firmly planted when moving, instead of going on tiptoe and dancing lightly and stuff. It is okay for some things but, really, it's a bad habit and leads me into error.
* Precision of technique even when I'm tired, or dehydrated, or overheated. And slow down. It's so tempting to rush, because paradoxical though it seems, so many techniques are easier to do at high speed--but you won't be doing them right.
