A new low in CLEC window-licking
Jun. 7th, 2005 04:04 pmWe have an aDSL order in process. It got delayed due to some defective equipment at the CO; okay, fine. Supposed to be fixed today.
Only today's work log entry does not mention the previous issue at all, and instead bibbles about Verizon rejecting the order due to already-existing line-sharing service on that phone number. Um, no. Some twenty minutes of arguing withIndia Covad about how a) it's a new phone number at b) a newly moved-into house and c) Verizon had ALREADY COMPLETED THE FOC so there cannot possibly be third-party DSL active here finally engendered the realization that (you saw this coming by now, I am sure) the existing line-sharing service was...Covad.
That is, some genius had completely ignored the trouble ticket for the bad equipment and blithely submitted the order to Verizon again, for no apparent reason other than whimsy. Verizon's database, knowing full well that they already had opened service on that phone number said "Nu uh, big guy". Mister Genius then just dumped that rejection into the work log and prepared to cancel the order entirely.
*headdesk*
On the bright side, the droid I was on the phone with was eventually willing to check this out, and has made the requisite incantations to get things back on track. We hope.

a new record
Jun. 7th, 2005 11:26 pmThis evening,
sweh and I managed to kill two bottles of wine between us. That's way beyond MY ususal capacity. Hey
solipsistnation, maybe there's something in the air. (Or maybe it's just that it's 90 fucking degrees and a slightly sweet white wine goes down mighty smooth in this climate.)
That + much 2nd season Babylon 5 has gone far to repairing the evils that the last call of the day--which, I may add, kept me half an hour beyond my usual departure time, and was from our absolute most hellbeast user--did to my psyche. Hail Dionysius.
