I'm used to muscle pain after weapons class, but this was new, exciting and different.

For most of the class we were doing a series of exercises which is meant to train you for balance in a variety of angles and heights, e.g. if you have to pick up your sword from the ground. To take an example completely at random since that's MOST OF WHAT WE DID oh my achin' knees.

(Actually, you feel it more in your thighs than your knees; though if the ole ice skating injury had been playing up, there would have been lots of misery to go around.)

I am somewhat comforted by Keith telling us that this may be the hardest exercise we would ever do in aikido. I am less comforted by the fact that my body doesn't seem to want to go down in the approved fashion. I get to the ground, and I am even on balance, but everything's going in the opposite direction to what we're supposed to be doing. So I try to correct myself, my body goes WTF NO, and wackiness ensues.
