This also has the amusing effect of shafting shell logins, because most shells helpfully try and do a mailcheck when starting up. Brian finally disabled that after I prodded him, but it doesn't help tcsh users, I don't know why. Newbie's trying to suss that but to no luck so far.
Also, disabling MAIL and MAILCHECK fucks up emacs. I don't know why that, either.
