Memetastic love-fest entry #1:
mangosteen
Nov. 30th, 2004 03:23 pmHow does
mangosteen rock my socks, especially when we only get to talk a few times a year (and often then in busy social settings)? Simple: he was so much a part of my formative college years that the aftershocks are still resonating. He was one of the first friends I made at Columbia, and one of the staunchest. Our brief and entertaining dating experience only made us closer pals. Unsurprisingly, for those who know him, he achieved a pretty clear and incisive vision into my personality, and was often a font of good advice when I needed counsel. And best of all, he still is, even at this distance & remove.
His competence at anything which seizes his attention borders on the frightening. He's solid and dependable, yet witty, entertaining, and fun to hang with; his opinions are always worth listening to, even if you disagree--especially if you disagree, as the ensuing conversation is sure to be fascinating. I envy his ease in social situations, which has also led to his astonishingly large circle of acquaintance.
