There's a new(ish) TF available on Striga, which is a) shorter than most (OMG YAY) and b) involves fighting Nazi robots. What's not to love? So we did that tonight, and stormed most of it without breaking a sweat, til we got to the S3Kr1t volcano crater base. The minor problem involved various team members getting blown off the narrow catwalks by incoming grenades, which recurring party split led to several deaths. But that was okay and we managed to keep going forward.

No, the fun came after we beat up the bad men. This set the self-destruct sequence going and we had 30 seconds to escape. That was okay, too, though, because we'd heard about that and were ready for it. The fly in our victory wine was that, just before we charged into melee with the archvillain, a certain party who shall remain nameless said "OK, see this door here? This is the one we need to escape through."

Picture, therefore, a team of very experienced heroes clustered around a small steel door in a volcanic Nazi base as a timer ticks down overhead, frantically trying to pull it open, which they utterly failed to do. Because that wasn't the villain escape tunnel. It was the broom closet. The exit was some 250 feet away, straight down at the bottom of the crater. My, that was quite some explosion to be at ground zero for. We needed more debt anyways.

Rest peacefully, citizens! The Short Bus Squadron Defenders of Liberty are protecting YOU!

Ack... :-/

The new knockback's a serious bitch :-/

(Granted, it's more fair, but still....)

We did the Doc. Vahz mish tonight, and I think we got through the whole thing in under 30 minutes. No one died, we kicked butt (we had like 3 defenders and 4 damage dealers or so). Then we took out my Frostfire mish, which scaled up in level to match me (Lek levelled up to 15 tonight during the Vahz mish! Yay!), and completed the mish--3 of the team had to run for the night--so we decided to go finish up and clear the building--and got killed in like <3 minutes. It was very scary. However--interesting thing.. if the mission is complete--and you go to clear the building and die? You can still click "Exit" and be teleported outside ;) There, where it was safe enough for me to do an Awaken at least ;)

I'm glad you kicked Nazi Robot ass (5th column? Sky Jerkoffs? ;) ), and sorry you guys all died horrible deaths.. but yay for transponders and hospitals! :)

As one whose main character lately is a DM/SR scrapper of a certain level, let me say:

What knockback? (-:

I can assure you, Shatner feels safer already.

(Council, yes.)

Fair, schmair--but it's at least good practice for City of Villains. *heh*

Vazhilok is a pretty normal mission until you get to the Big Man himself, and even then you're usually okay as long as you can isolate him from most of his cronies. After that it's just a question of nibbling away at his thousands of HP.

Frostfire...that's an interesting outcome. :) Usually what would happen is (I did this one with my blaster a L O T) most of the mission was no sweat and then the final room would pummel everyone into a fine red paste.

What vexes me is, I respec'd Dusk that first night, before realizing knockback was now a Big Thing. So I didn't take Practiced Brawler, and I probably can't for awhile because I'm in desperate need of Stamina.

Did you get some other power to resist the mind-trick effects, or were you just going to use inspirations for that?

Inspirations--I mean, being Natural origin, I'm not likely to be going up against the Circle, so I figured I'd be able to hold off until lvl 22 (when the Tsoo start getting irritating).

Har har har!

Very entertaining - I've never played CoH but still get the gist. I am almost tempted to go out and buy it now. "Short Bus Squadron" popped into my brain today and made me laugh out loud for no visible reason, which probably would have alarmed my co-workers if they weren't already used to that sort of thing.
