Somewhat in spite of myself, I managed to have absolutely nothing scheduled for this weekend, not even in the "I really oughta complete X or Y" category. How refreshingly novel. It also proved lucky, because I managed to utterly sod up my sleep schedule by having a large Starbucks Fancy-Pants Coffee Drink[tm] at about 7pm Friday (and on an mostly-empty stomach at that) which turned me into a passable imitation of the Great Cornholio for a few hours, and naturally banished sleep for a number after that. This was not entirely a bad thing, as [livejournal.com profile] dariodevil and I stayed up most of the night getting a lot of long-overdue talkin' done, and without each of our astounding capacities for over-defensiveness muddying the waters, as usually happens.

And then yesterday, I just sat down in the comfy chair and read for a couple of hours. Completely guilt-free, as opposed to the usual situation, where I'm reading instead of doing something I ought to be doing and therefore my enjoyment is darkened by the voice of the nagging Protestant work ethic.

Today, I hardly know what to do. Steve will be working on his D&D campaign, so I'm free to do whatever; and yes, I'll be a bit useful (hello, vacuum), but I could devote time to some of my own projects. Of course, what I really want to be doing--to wit, futzing with mixes--is out of my power because my computer is awaiting a brain transplant. I could play CoH or do some online Xmas shopping on one of the other machines, but I just don't feel as comfortable as I do in MY chair on MY computer at MY spot. Possibly I should get over this. But in any case, it's vexing my soul that I feel like I actually want to do things, which usually I really, really don't on this particular day of my monthly rotation, but the first things I'm inclined to are blocked.

Meantime, roasting a duck (will a 6lb duck feed five people?) for dinner--I have seasoned it with salt, long pepper, and allspice; haven't decided whether I'll glaze it at the finish--and going to make the cranberry sauce for Thursday, because obviously the less I have to do on Der Tag, the more sane I shall be.
