The Grand Archive Reunification Project has tossed out several gems of former ages, but this one I'd completely forgotten since the day I made it (which is only, you'll note, about six weeks after I started working here):
Tue Oct 3 14:30:16 EDT 1995 - vf:
This user called today, worried about a local nutball on talk.politics.drugs who started chucking some fairly vicious flamage at him. The kook, who has three addresses (not proven to be the same person, but they act in concert and all three providers are in the Pittsburgh area), has accused our user of pushing drugs, various sexual nasties, etc.; this matter, he's planning on pursuing himself; but the kook has also threatened to get his service shut off and "delete his account." I checked the back articles and our user seems to have given the straight story--he just posted an announcement of an open War On Drugs panel taking place in NYC, and the kook went ballistic. (It might be added that our user is a lawyer, and the kook is apparently a disbarred lawyer.) The kook's known addresses are:
manus@telerama.lm.com
drmacho@pgh.nauticom.net
zeus@usaor.net
The only name known to be attached to these is John Gruber[sic].
In sum, any reports about problems or abuse from user XXXXX should be looked at double hard, and the source looked at harder.
