The eider-duck: I'm working my way through the Aubrey-Maturin series again, and the next book is not in its place on the shelf.
The mallard: my sewing machine started playing sillybuggers this morning; I oiled and lubricated per the manual, but I can still hear friction happening, and it's still misbehaving.
The rubber ducky: ...and therefore I didn't have time to eat breakfast, or pack a lunch, or finish sewing the pair of pants I was working on, or rake the front yard this morning.
