A New York Subway Moment.

serindeLast night, we were on our way back to Brooklyn after X-Men 2 (YAY! GO SEE IT!) and post-movie deconstruction over dinner. I was sort of half-snoozing in ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
sweh's arms. Suddenly, from the group of people who'd been chattering over to the right there burst a loud, operatic voice. Singing opera. And I don't mean "loud and blaring", she sounded like a real, trained, stage-ready singer (like I know so much about opera), and her voice veritably filled the car.
So that was weird enough, and even though it was quite loud and I'm not an opera fan she was good enough that I wasn't annoyed, just sort of enjoying the surreality, when it took a turn for the more strange: an elderly gentleman, in brown suit and trenchcoat, apparently took offense at the impromptu concert, because he suddenly jumped up and moved over towards the singer with his fist cocked to punch her. One of the men in her party moved to intercept, and just sort of blocked him and held him back, and after a bit of snarling the old fellow got off at the next stop.
