Evening round-up
Nov. 17th, 2003 09:52 pmDealt with the new sunroom bed today. That is to say, it was delivered yesterday, and yes it was the bed we wanted, and it was the correct size (full), but it is the world's thickest mattress; so that plus box-spring plus (low, basic) frame made it insanely high and it seemed to take over the room. So tonight we just took away the frame, and that seems to have done the trick. I'm not sure all the fitted full-size sheets we have are going to fit on it, though.
Steve and I just watched Raising Arizona, which is one of his favorite movies (I'd never seen it). Wacky and good, and strangely reminiscent of Wild At Heart, in a way I can't quite explain. Not just the presence of Nicolas Cage, either. Though in spite of the scary hair and 80s Selleck-esque mustache (ew) he sports in this one, I still would cheerfully crawl over broken glass to reach him, oh my yes.
I guess I'm still channeling Delirium from Halloween: "The word for when you want to be closer friends with someone but they don't seem to want to be closer friends with you. There needs to be a word for that."

Date: 2003-11-17 07:27 pm (UTC)I'd be curious to your opinion of "Vampire's Kiss", a rather odd movie with Mr Cage. I didn't like it, and I usually like bad vampire movies. Although it did have a nice bite or two.
Not quite the same, but suddenly I get an urge to rent early Russell Crowe films and bring them over for you. :-) There's a mix of good and bad as well.

Date: 2003-11-17 07:34 pm (UTC)(Did you notice the metal shop he worked for was "Hudsucker Industries"? Same as in "The Hudsucker Proxy")

Date: 2003-11-17 08:11 pm (UTC)I can't watch his more recent movies without the South Park "Fightin' Round The World" thing taking over my brain.

Date: 2003-11-18 02:03 pm (UTC)Yeah yeah, that's everyone's response...
I've seen some of their movies, but probably not most. No, I didn't notice the Hudsucker Industries thing, and moreover I'm not sure Steve did, so I don't feel so bad. :)

Date: 2003-11-18 02:04 pm (UTC)Haven't seen it, but I'm willing to try. Also willing to try early Russell Crowe movies.
As long as we're not going to have another Phantasm experience. ;)
