Snap, crackle, pop
Dec. 10th, 2003 01:44 pmAnother good class. I was paired with Alistair today, who is a good person to work with, though he has a tendency to stop towards the end of the technique and then not follow through with enough energy which is a bit confusing to take ukemi for. So I started not falling until he put some heart into it, and that went better.
I got called on to be test ukemi at one point today (that is, when the sensei is demonstrating a technique, the person he demonstrates on) for the first time, and I'm happy to say that I didn't make an ass of myself--even though it was iriminage, and I've only recently gotten the hang of taking ukemi for that without being a slave to centripetal force. The technique was done to me several times, but on the last one, as Butch was turning my head into his shoulder every single joint in my neck went *crick!* loud enough to be heard back at the office. Sounded like a string of firecrackers going off, startling everyone including me and Butch. It didn't hurt, nor was it particularly embarrassing, but it was somewhat self-conscious-making.
