Again with the Fashion 911 almost making me miss the train. I need to plan this shit better.
Tonight is an outing for
mir_nyc's birthday, so I am making with the dress-up. Once again, in short order, I came up with a new and different outfit which I flatter myself is both stylish and good-looking; and once again, I met my Waterloo in trying to choose jewelry. What I'm wearing is low-cut, but there's a jacketlike blouse over, giving a sort of long, narrow, rectangular plunge. This wants a long necklace to accentuate the cleavage; it needs to be simple but also dramatic enough to stand out. That leaves out most of my pendants. The turquoise bead necklace Steve got me from India is too short. The gold antiquish necklace I got last time I had this problem is over-done for these purposes. The jet butterfly necklace Stephen's parents got me for Christmas would have been perfect...if it wasn't black; that puts absolutely no relief in the outfit at all. Eventually I settled on a chunk of rough amethyst, and some large purple crystal earrings I've had since high school (so 80s it hurts), and it's okay, but it's not fabulous.
And by the time I reluctantly settled, I was late in leaving; forgot ring, bracelet, makeup, gloves, and scarf in my scramble for the train. No time for breakfast, either. Bah humbug. Maybe I'll dash into Sephora and/or Filene's after work and see what last-minute miracles I can pull off.
I look at the above post and wonder again: what pod people have taken over my brain?
