Dreams and memes
Apr. 1st, 2004 10:31 amThe problem with having NPR as your morning wake-up call is, the first thing you hear when you wake up grabs your attention and so your dreams are much more prone to fading. But from what I remember, it was me and Jennifer (my best friend from high school, who I haven't talked to in ages...I really owe her some email) and
8782 sliding into and out of an alternate reality to try and stop some Evil Plot, which I'm no longer clear on the details of. Said alternate reality was in some sort of societal breakdown, though not quite post-apocalyptic (sorry,
marnameow!) and there were various redneck thug types giving us grief.
There was a marching band in there, too. Don't ask me why. I think we were running through their parade to try and shake the thugs.

1. What is your middle name?
Catherine, after my mother, and grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, and so on back unto the dawning of time.
2. If you had been born the other sex, did your parents tell you what your name would have been?
That's one I didn't think to ask, believe it or not. I'll have to do so next time I talk to Mom.
3. Do you have pets and if so, what are their names?
Two cats, Mage and Ranger.
4. If you were to ever have a pet or more children, what would you name them?
For pets--how can you choose a name in advance? You need to meet 'em first.
For kids--Steve and I have talked about this some, and we've agreed on Michael (another good family name on my side) if we should have a son. Female names, the jury's still out.
5. Most people know their mother's maiden name, but do you know your grandmother's maiden name?
Spanagel. (Dad's mother's name I'm not positive about, off the top of my head...I think it's Smith, but I'd have to look it up at home.)
6. Did you have an imaginary friend as a child?
Yes. It was Snoopy. (When playing games, I'd originally always win, but then started letting him win so his feelings wouldn't be hurt.)
7. What was the name of your first pet?
The family dog's name was Brandy. My own personal first pet was a pair of goldfish, which having gotten them the year after the dog died, I named one Brandy after her, and Dad suggested I name the other one Snifter. I, of course, had no idea what a snifter was, and so ran around introducing my goldfish to guests..."These are my fish, Brandy and Snifter!" and had no clue whence the hilarity.
8. What was the name of the first person you ever kissed?
Rich Thompson, in the hall backstage of the school auditorium.
Well, technically he kissed me, but I helped.
9. What was the name of the school you attended as a child?
(I presume this is supposed to be grade school.) Parma Park Elementary.
10. What was/is the name of your English teacher in high school?
Different one each year...Mr. Jones in 9th grade (he was cool), Mr. Hudak in 10th (damn easy class, I had my sister's notes, and he never changed his rigid outline one single iota), Miss Viscomi (the Fly-Woman) in 11th, and...why the heck can't I remember who I had my senior year? Brain is going mushy.
11. Do you name your vehicles? What are the name(s)?
Yes, but it doesn't always catch on. The current trusty steeds' names of record are Womble (the Saturn) and Lurch (the Taurus).
