I haven't been paying much attention to hockey this year, what with recent events (and with Hasek and Bourque both retired, I haven't found a new love yet). So I was more than a bit stonkered to learn that the Cup finals are going to be: *drum roll...*

Calgary OR San Jose, vs. Philadelphia OR Tampa Bay.

I think I speak for us all when I say, WTF?

I passed this data on to Steve, and his comment was "It's the Who Cares Cup!" That about sums it up. Actually, I do care a tiny bit: Anyone but the Flyers. Possibly it is silly for me to carry a grudge about the Broad Street Bullies who were a going concern when I was a lump in my momma's tummy, but there it is.

Yay Calgary!

I'm of the humble opinion that every NHL team should be required to play at least one home game a year on natural outdoor ice, or forfeit it. WTF are Tampa Bay and San Jose doing in a game they've never played under natural conditions?

And I agree with you 100% about the Broad Street Bullies.

Christ, you fuckin' New Yorkers are such jerkwads. Isn't the game reward enough? But no, every championship has to involve a "Major Market Team" or else it's somehow beneath your contempt. I shake my fist at you people!

I say unto you: Feh, and Feh again.

We are not about the Major Market Teams. In fact, we spit upon the local Major Market Teams, all three of them. We are about the Teams of Great Hockey Tradition, because hockey moves in dynasties...usually repetitive ones, at that. This is why, even though the Habs have been on-and-off sucky for years (and are not one of the Favorite Teams), it is unhappymaking when they get stuffed in four games in the semifinals, for instance.

Jesus H. Christ in the penalty box for high-sticking, I'm a Sabres fan. Talk to me again about Major Market Teams, bunky.

Pff, tradition. I spit in its face. I do not care to see the Devils and the Red Wings, year in and year out, in the playoffs. Give me something new!

Don't mind me, i'm just embittered because the Kings lost the Cup in `93 because of that stupid McSorley "stick too curved" penalty.
