I am mildly vexed that the 5th Ed. Champs rulebook doesn't include the handy-dandy calculation tables for Advantages and Limitations. I have a calculator, yes, but I like the nice friendly table with the nice friendly font.

Other than that, how does 5th Ed. compare to 4th?

Haven't actually gone for a test-drive yet, but I'm pleased with what I see. There are no earth-shaking changes, just tweaks, and usually to the good (like, a 60-pt. Flash is Body-count on 12d6, and that's how many segments you're Flashed, instead of it being 6d6 and Phases which means low-SPD people get shafted).

One thing I'm not sure about, and maybe this was in the Big Blue Book and I just missed it, is what they call a "Multiple Power Attack". That is, you can fire multiple attacks with one hit roll, as long as they're not in a Multipower (or EC, either? I forget). That strikes me as four hundred kinds of b0rken. I suppose if it only works for characters who don't have their powers in a Framework, it gives them a cookie, but who the hell builds characters like that?

Also...

I like the way they have it laid out, where throughout the Talents and Powers sections, there are sidebars on every page with examples of every Talent, Power, Advantage, and Limitation (as well as combinations thereof). Very helpful for the newbies. Even if it does tip the hand on some of my favorite tricks, like the Entangle Based on ECV, which I like springing on players once they've been playing for awhile and start to think they know what's what. ;)
