I agree. Better than the 1st, if thats at all possible. YOu could tell it was a Sam Raimi film, that hospital scene just gave off evil dead vibes like nothing.
Great action, great plot, great characters, great inside jokes...
Of course I'm not a big comic book fan, so it's possible there's a number of inside joke that I missed, but I don't rate this film as highly as the first.
Don't get me wrong, it's definitely a good film and very much worth watching. By saying that I preferred the first is not much of a denegration, since the first film was very very good, indeed! However, where the first film had the joy of discovery of Parker's new powers, this film suffered "teenage angst" which went on for far too long. Once we got past (most of) that and into the action then things moved along nicely.
The special effects were better (even the elevated subway in New York wasn't too obviously artificial!), I feel.
Conlusion: Too much Peter Parker, not enough Spiderman Rating: 8.5/10
