I lost another tomboy point today, as Nancy persuaded me to go along with her and get The Works at a proper hair salon. This is a place that specializes in long hair, and they have a special conditioning treatment--takes an hour or so--which is supposed to be BEST THING EVAR!!1! for your hair, etc.
Sounded like standard bullhype to me but damn if my hair don't look and feel pretty durn good.
I also got my mess of split ends removed and the remaining bits evened out, with much less carnage than might have been anticipated--these people do know their stuff, no doubt about it. (The lecture about the things I am likely doing wrong to cause all those split ends was thrown in, no charge.) Then the conditioning treatment, which also involves a sort of heating-pad hat that was making me want to fall asleep; then that was rinsed out, and she put my hair in large rollers and I went under the Giant Dryer of Dooooom. Also nice and warm and making me want to snooze. After another twenty minutes or so, when I was all dry, she took out the rollers, brushed me out, added two spritzes of their special hair spray (which feels a lot more natural than any other I've encountered, let me note), and suddenly I am all styled. The pooky is very approving, and I have to say I'm pretty impressed myself.
The question is, can I reproduce this without rollers? And moreover, can I wake up, do something stylish, work for the morning, go to aikido, fuck it all up, and then re-create it in under five minutes in the locker room?
