And now, the update.
Jun. 22nd, 2004 09:47 amI indulged my shopping urge and got a pair of black satin pants. Yay. I found a black linen sundress with some embroidery around the neckline that fit me perfectly and was only $25, but didn't buy it...it desperately needs a dart just below the shoulder; the excess fabric really kinda sticks out. Hmph. It does come with a matching linen jacket, which'd cover that problem, but the jacket has much more embroidery on it and is sorta pushing the boundary from "simple and elegant" to "precious and twee". I dunno. I may yet go back. Would like second opinion.
Most of last night, though, was dinner at Matthew & Kathryn's; they had invited me and their best man as a thank-you for our wedding efforts. We had a few glasses of Champagne, and then the dinner began...Caesar salad (made with green garlic! yum) with Sancerre, followed by spring vegetable risotto with a Pinot Noir, followed by a Gramercy Tavern recipe of braised pork belly over mashed potatoes with a Cabernet Sauvignon, followed by a cheese selection, followed by strawberry rhubarb pie a la mode with Sauternes, followed by hazelnut chocolates, followed by a wheelbarrow & stomach pump. I'm still full. Fortunately, I only had to stagger about five minutes' walk from their place to
sweh's, whereupon I collapsed on the bed (reeking of garlic, apparently). A fantastic food experience, as it always is when they're involved. I also got to see the wedding pictures for the first time; some really good stuff in there, including what may be the best yet picture of
sweh (that I can actually show to other people, I mean). I shall have to obtain a copy.
I don't know what I'm doing tonight; I'm slated to go to the House of Wounded Kittens, but I'm not clear on whether Brian is already back, or is getting back sometime today, or if he's still ill, etc. However, the mellow exhaustion is trumping the control freak twitchiness, so it's all good.

No class today. I felt more or less okay, if somewhat groggy, when I got up, but as the course of the morning went on it was clear that I have what Beth's family refers to as "a touch of indigestion". It doesn't really qualify as a full hangover, but it's definitely in that direction, and it didn't strike me as a prudent condition to go aikidoing in. Yeah, let's do lots of rolling around when we're nauseous, it'll be great.
I really wanted to practice today, too. Feh.
