Issue #1!

First Champions game last night; I think we can file it as a roaring success. At least, if the ensuing hilarity was any guide.

The line-up. )

I was pleasantly surprised at how well everyone managed to click, in spite of such a bizarre and what would seem to be incompatible mix of personalities. The dialogue was hysterically funny, too. I am once again taken aback at how most 5th Ed. published opponents seem to be built with glass jaws--we're talking, they throw 60-75 Active Points and have defenses in the 18-22 range, wtf?--and the two Genocide Minutemen robots I threw at the group went down pretty quick. Though, really, Genocide had only figured on facing Solarus and Maelstrom, and one robot to one hero is usually more than sufficient. Still, it may take me some few sessions to get a feel for what a reasonable opposition level is.

The biggest hit of the evening (from yours truly, anyways; it would be hard to pick out the best player-generated moment) seemed to be my voice modulator. That surprised the heck out of me at the time, because of course it's what we always used for robots, power-suit guys, etc. It's all in what you're used to, I reckon. Otherwise, I wasn't really at the top of my form, being pretty exhausted and more than a bit stressed (been awhile since I've run a game, after all), but the player momentum carried things nicely for me so it didn't signify.
