Death of the Thousand Cuts

There are magic nose goblins all over the system today and I am wearied of it. Small things are failing in random, bizarre fashion, not enough of them or large enough matters to swing into crisis mode, but enough to be deeply irritating (for us and for customers). Actually, let us be precise--it's not just OUR system, it seems to be happening everywhere. Behold, schadenfreude.

There are extra bonus stupid rays across the land, too.

And I have to go home & do laundry, and make food for the week. I WANT SLACK.

The roller coaster of serendipity

I had thought my last student loan payments were this month. OMG YAY

...But I checked the first one, and it's not due to be finished til November (I forgot the 6-month post-graduation deferral). So my personal monthly income was not, in fact, going to increase by 23%. BOO

...But I checked the second one and quoth the lender, "No servicing information exists for this borrower" even though I can look at the summary of the loan. Code indicates that it's been paid off already. So who's been taking my money?! WTF

...So I phoned them, played Dances with Voicemail, and found out...the final payment was last month, and that one is done. YAY

Special bonus fortune: the next payment, i.e. the first overpayment, would have been automagically sent out tomorrow. But now I have stopped it. WOOOOO!

(There is a lesson here about recording this information, rather than putting it out of your mind because it's so very far in the future.)
