[livejournal.com profile] audiovile had, earlier this week, procured us (for large values of "us") tickets for Hal Holbrook's "Mark Twain Tonight", which is closing next week. Tonight was the only night available, which neatly sidestepped the "who's free when" discussion (though it meant [livejournal.com profile] sweh couldn't come, *waah*). So, that was fine, and I made dinner arrangements for our legion at the Delta Grill, and we all looked forward to an enjoyable evening out.

Then, last night, cow-orker Josh phoned to say that, about those tickets he had for the advance screening of Serenity that I'd threatened to stab him & take? Well, he couldn't use them now, and did I want them?

For a showing...which will be tonight.

I declined with heartfelt thanks due to prior commitment, went out into the backyard, and indulged in primal scream therapy. Eventually I achieved resignation and got on with my life--it'll be out in a few months anyways, blah blah blah.

Today, as usual, cron delivered me at noon the output of calendar. Wherein I was stonkered to be reminded that tonight was Shecky's Girls' Night Out, which I'd made arrangements (read: bought tickets) to attend with The Chicks over a month ago, stuck the date in my calendar file, and forgotten about. Gibbering ensued as I frantically figured out how much time I could spend at the shopping/booze nirvana before sprinting uptown to make the dinner reservation...

Sanity was restored when I looked at the Shecky's web site and realized that the dates there did not match the number xCal has glowing on my screen. Apparently, I have an off-by-one-week error. The only fallout of this has been the vast amusement I have provided to my minions, as they watched me running around in circles frothing at the mouth.
