Poker? I don't even...
Nov. 3rd, 2005 11:13 amMy second foray into Texas Two-Step Hold'em went somewhat better, in that I only lost $3 instead of $15. (Which sort of feels like winning $7, as mentally I slot the $10 buy-in as How Much I Pay For This Evening's Fun, like a cover charge or something.) I suffered a certain amount of dramatic rending of garments and tearing of hair, since I kept having really good hands that got deked by ones just a little bit better--the most woeful being a full house, kings-high, beat by four sixes--but I took a bit of comfort from the more experienced players telling me that I was playing my hands correctly, it was just bad luck. Which latter relented towards the end of the evening, allowing me to win back a modest portion of my losses.
dr_memory makes a better pie crust than me. I am jealous, and will stab him & steal his recipe.
Ginger ale and tequila sounds utterly horrifying, but it's actually pretty good. If it's a standard ginger ale, a splash of seltzer helps cut the sweetness. I am next going to try it with one of those really biting, knock-your-socks-off Jamaican ginger ales.
