Braaaaaaains.
Nov. 1st, 2005 09:28 amIn an unusual burst of holiday-relevant activity, last night I acceded to
audiovile's long-standing desire that I watch Dawn of the Dead with him. It was...well, I mean, I know the idea behind [Foo] Of The Dead, having seen any number of knockoffs, parodies, and references; but I did not realize that what makes the movie really horrifying isn't the dead things or the gore or what have you, but the pervading feeling of nihilistic DOOM.--That everything our heroes do is completely futile, and is merely prolonging the inevitable end. I find that much more deeply disturbing than any amount of chawing on intestines.
It was well that we played several hours of CoH afterwards, to cleanse the mental palate as it were. Otherwise I probably would've woken up screaming. (I did have a zombie-infested dream, but it was more a sort of action sequence then a nightmare.)
