there are bees in my SAN

The xens are sad pandas this morning. san2b and san2d have fallen and can't get up, which is wreaking all kinds of merry havoc--almost nothing customer-facing, except for three virtual hosts (INCLUDING MINE OF COURSE HA HA) and the secondary name server, thankfully. But it's messy and irritating, especially on a morning which was already pretty bee-laden on its own. (Horizon has *still* not deigned to rule on whether I am to be permitted two more weeks of phys. therapy--I guess they feel that if they dither long enough it'll heal on its own.)

In which we also learn that pager service does not work in the bunker that is our colo point, so all our frantic pagings of Brian did not get through until he'd left the building. Of course, if we'd known he was there, we could have just called the landline...

Monday morning two-fer

Call ye firste:
Customer: Our internet doesn't work and I talked to them [ed. them who?] and they said you were our internet.
Your humble correspondent: OK, what sort of service do you have with us?
Customer: Internet Explorer.

Call ye seconde:
[much explaining of items on bill to customer who's had service for going on four years so you'd think they'd grok it by now]
Customer: So how many mailboxes do we get free?
YHC: Ten. And you have seven extra you're paying for.
C: How come only three show up on my bill?
YHC: You're looking at the bill from Jan. 3. You added those last four on Jan. 19th.
C: Oh. --Well, I need to delete some mailboxes anyways
YHC: OK, which ones?
C: foo, bar, and baz
YHC: OK, foo and bar were part of your ten original free ones, so I'll credit two of the ones you're paying for and make them free instead.
C: Great. But doesn't that get us down to only free ones?
YHC: ...You had seventeen, and you deleted three. I think you'll find that leaves you with fourteen.
C: *pauses to count usernames, possibly on her fingers* I come up with thirteen.
YHC: You have fourteen.
