Claire and I tried a new place for lunch today: Devi, which is in the space formerly known as Cafe 18 ("the vegetarian kosher place"). It's Indian, in a sort of high-toned strange-ingredient (at least by what I'm used to seeing as "Indian") sort of way.
Oh my fucking Christ it is good. Spice as in flavor instead of spice as in heat (though some dishes have that, too). I had "Phool Makhane Kee Sabzee", which is listed as "lotus seeds and cashews, creamy aromatic sauce". Um, okay, lotus seeds? Bring 'em on. I never need to eat again.
I really dig the decor, too.
