They're making Casino Royale (I say "making" rather than "remaking", because IIRC there hasn't been a straight-up version of it yet). Now, I stopped caring about the Bond movie franchise ages ago, because as far as I can tell they haven't actually had anything to do with the books since before I was born, but this new chestnut stuck in my gullet nice and hard:

Agent 007 will not be playing baccarat (or any other game of skill actually found in high-toned European casinos). He will be playing, that's right, Texas Hold'em.

Ow. And first thing in the morning, too. I hate people.

...but will they at least let him die? Or are they changing that too?

*grin*

Wait, what? He doesn't die in the book, at least. (Lots of horrible smashing damage applied to his wobbly bits, but no dying.)

Merp! Huh. I took it upon myself to read a couple of the Bond books several years ago, and I thought I remembered him dying under a hail of bullets or something. Musta been confusing it with some other book. Sorry about that.
Maybe I should give 'em another try...

"Do you expect me to call?"

"No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to fold!"

(I'm also laying 2-1 odds the scene will have him make either a royal flush or four of a kind on the river)

That did actually happen in a game I attended at the beginning of this month. (Boy, was I pissed, as it stomped all over my nice little full house.)

Hands I've had in the last 6 weeks;

KQsuited, get the royal flush on the river (and against a maniac too; that was fun)

And then a few weeks later, in the same session;

88, flop the other two 8s. I was also in last position and there was betting before me. Good times.

J8d in the big blind, I believe 6 people in the hand, not including the small blind so I'm in first position. Flop comes QT9...of diamonds. I've just flopped a straight flush...and I can't bet. I've got something of a tight image, and if I bet on a single suited board with 5 people behind me, I know it's going to be folded around unless someone's got Axd, trips, or maybe Ad or two pair. Everyone checks. The turn comes 7d. I now have a six card straight flush. I figure I have to try to get some action going, so I bet. Get one caller. River's a blank, I bet again, guy calls again, I show, he mucks without my seeing what he has.

Less than five years ago, Sharon Stone was in talks to play Jane Bond.

His twin sister.

Yep.
